Following the path of a total identity between Architecture and Structure, we choose a structure based on a high density of extremely slender elements, which are combined to form a simple and clear resisting scheme, to be put together on site after extensive prefabrication in shop.

The structural mechanism is built up by the composition of a basic element: the portal scheme, hinged at the base, crossed orthogonally according to the principal axes of the volume.

The main element can be identified:

- transversal frames (portals)
- longitudinal frames (portals)
- roof level bracing elements

and the combination of such elements gives birth to a rational structural system which is solid, rigid, stable and extremely light. The glazed cladding is suspended at the interior of the structural esoskeleton.

Coherently with the choice of a diffused structure, the system is developed by the extensive utilization of truss schemes, which means by taking advance of axial load resistance of the members in a strut-and-tie relationships, avoiding any flexural behaviour.
The structural members are commercial circular hollow sections in S355 steel, shop-welded to form structure segments which are assembled on site by simple male-female joints. The whole structure is galvanized and painted.

Being the structure pushed to its limits in terms of member slenderness, extensive non-linear verifications have been carried on.

The rationality of the structural scheme is reflected by the erection method, that we designed as a sequence of self-stable stages, to be built without need of temporary propping or scaffolding.
