STRUCTURAL INSPECTION AND DESIGN REVIEW – NEW R3 PLANT ST-MICROELECTRONICS IN AGRATE BRIANZA, MILANO
The new plant allows ST to extend the production lines of silicon slices with a 12in diameter which were at first manufactured in 2022.
Redesco was appointed by ST for the necessary structural inspection during the erection and of the independent design review.
The plant is extended over a 23000m2 surface and feature 7 independent buildings; the main one is 144m long and 66m wide and is roofed by 22 pitched trusses with bolted connections set at around 7m centers.
The 92t. weighting trusses were pre-assembled at ground floor and erected by means af mobile cranes.
The main characteristics of the structures are:
- Deep foundations composed of 0.8m and 1.0m diameter piles with lengths from 12m to 15m
- Continuos rafts 100cm deep
- Precast structures in elevation composed of two way frames, and of double T or waffle slabs for the floors
- Cast in situ stair walls
- Canopies, mezzanine floors, catwalks in steel
Because of the Client’s stringent performance requirements for the vibration characteristics of the “clean room” and of the relevant auxiliary premises, in addition to the work related to structural inspection and design review, on site load, dynamic tests, and material checks were effected; inspections to precast plants were included also.
A special attention was paid for checking the validity of the precast element details and for assessing the relevant erection procedure.
“Wet” joints, characterized by complex erection, were used for the two way connections of the horizontal and vertical elements which compose the resisting frames.
