Pedestrian Overpass, Nicosia (Cyprus)
In order to solve the pedestrian crossing of an important freeway entering the city from South, the solution took into account the urban constraints which require several accesses to the main bridge. The crossing bridge is constituted by a steel/concrete composite girder continuous over four spans of 17.50, 27.00, 17.50, 9.50 m with a circular segment plan; the passage width is 3.00 m while the total depth is 0.94 m.
The transverse section is triangular and is constituted by a central pipe and lateral trussed brackets which support the concrete slab.
The deck is costituted by a reinforced concrete slab cast over corrugated steel sheets and was topped by an asphalt pavement.
