Upgrading of the “Farmer Palace” for the carrying out of the new homonymous luxury hotel in the Parma centre in between Barezzi and S.Bartolomeo squares, very close to the Royal Theatre.

The original building dates back to the forties and is marked by the typical of the period rationalist architecture.

Because of the relevant importance and architectural characteristic the building is bounded to protection by Superintendence for the cultural properties.

The building features an undoubted regularity and majesty with a bulkhead and brick and reinforced concrete floors.

It is composed of a single block with 6 elevated floors and an underground one with vaults and arches in brick work and concrete.

The wide span central entrance hall at the ground floor is bridged with concrete trusses; a new steel structure will support passages and galleries.

The project aims at the construction of rooms and apartments with the relevant utilities at the elevated floors while the reception and leisure areas will be located at the ground level; a theater, a botanic laboratory, a gymnasium and reataurants are included.

A special attention is paid to the underground level where a fitness center will be located and to the roof where the exhisting false super constructions will be dismantled and a restaurant, a rooftop garden and an open air swimming pool will be constructed

The structural works are classified for the earthquake hazards in the improvement category.

A number of bounds given by the architectural and mechanical characteristics of the construction and by the Superintendence for the cultural properties had to be faced.

Many technological solutions were effected and several kinds of materials were used.
