Transformation of the Montello Barracks into the new 'Security Citadel'
Redesco, in charge of STRUCTURAL design and site supervision, is overseeing the development of this major urban transformation project covering an area of 71,000 square meters.
The project, based on the architectural design by Beretta Associati, adopts an integrated approach that combines the conservative restoration of the early 20th-century historic buildings with the construction of new volumes and infrastructure.
The work plays a strategic role not only for security but also for the redevelopment of the surrounding urban district and the Milanese university system: once the housing at Montello is completed, the officers currently stationed at the Garibaldi Barracks (in the Sant'Ambrogio area) will be transferred here. This will allow the Università Cattolica to take final possession of the Garibaldi Barracks to complete its new campus.
