The Campus is located inside the MIND (Milano Innovation District) in the area which housed EXPO 2015.

Aiming at hosting a new community of 50000 persons like students, teachers, researchers, staff and guests, the new buildings to be erected feature strong mutual interconnections according to very innovative and functional criteria.

LA STATALE NEWS

The construction materials, reinforced concrete in situ cast for the staircases and the floors and prefabricated for the columns were selected for enhancing the erection rapidity while taking into account the durability and resilience concepts set as base for the investment.

The most important challenge of the project is given by the functional complexity required by a scientific university with the relevant research laboratories.

Many fold installation and technology distributions are completely integrated inside the building space and take advantage of the wide flexibility given by the structural scheme which eliminates any constraint.

The floors are built with extended use of plates, lightened by 100% recycled plastic void elements, and set on column grid lines variables from 8 by 8 m to 10 by 10 m.

This solution allows for fulfilling the comfort requirements for research rooms by using materials manufactured with a reduced consumption of CO2.

The research for the structural efficiency took also in account the definition of ergotechnical methods and systems valuable over the built wide surfaces which amount to a total of 190000 m2 subdivided in 5 main buildings with relevant extensions ranging from the minimum of 20000 m2 to 60000 m2 and in some minor constructions.

The design necessarily included the themes related to the construction yard layout and the material delivering aiming at process and sequences consistent with the time target which in strictly connected with the university transfer without impairment of the continuity of citizen services.
